On June 25, the National Bank of Poland issued a 10 zlotych collector's coin dedicated to commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Armia Krajowa's Operation Ostra Brama (Operation Gate of Dawn).

Operation Oyster Brama

Operation Ostra Brama was part of Operation Tempest, known as the Polish Zone Uprising. The concept of the operation was prepared by Major Maciej Kalenkiewicz "Kotwicz", a member of the Cichociemni, and was presented on 15 April 1944 at a meeting of the AK (Armia Krajowa) Headquarters of the Vilna District devoted to insurgent action. A detailed plan was drawn up by the staff of the AK Vilna District Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Aleksander Krzyżanowski "Wilk". The main military goal was to capture Vilna with one's own forces, while the political goal was to demonstrate the Polish character of the Vilna region and for AK units to act as hosts for Red Army units.

The reverse of the coin features the images of Major Maciej Kalenkiewicz "Kotwicz" and Lieutenant Colonel Aleksander Krzyżanowski "Wolf", as well as the military eagle of the Armia Krajowa in the centre, surrounded by the inscription in Polish of the coin's motif.

On the other hand, the obverse of the coin features the Kotwica symbol, used by the Polish Underground State and the Armia Krajowa during World War II. Next to it also appears the year of issue “2024”, the face value, and at the top: the name of the issuing country “RZEPOSPOLITA POLSKA” (REPUBLIC OF POLAND) and the coat of arms of Poland.
