In Spain we still do not have a date for the issue of the coin belonging to the joint issue "XII Ibero-American Series - Ibero-American Capitals", a few days ago it was in Peru and last March in Portugal.Eight Latin American countries are participating in the XIII Ibero-American Series, where each country
mints a coin on a theme of cultural significance and allows its
national coat of arms to appear on the coins of other countries. This numismatic series
is organized by the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre – Real Casa de la Moneda , in cooperation with the central banks of each of the participating nations.
This XIII Series is issued under the theme Ibero-American Capitals and eight countries are participating: Argentina, Ecuador, Spain, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru and Portugal. Each piece represents an iconic image of its current capital, or of another city that was, as is the case of Spain with Seville.
Peru's coin
The reverse of the coin shows a sculptural detail of the
Greco-Roman mythological allegory called "Fame", located at the top of the fountain in the Plaza Mayor, and on the left side, a perspective view of the façade of the Cathedral and the Archbishopric of Lima. The upper part of the coin shows the legend CAPITALES IBEROAMERICANAS; in addition, in the right quadrant, the name of the Peruvian capital can be seen, and below the main figure, the phrase XIII SERIE IBEROAMERICANA.
