The Italian Mint, the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato Italiano, issued on June 20 a series of 5 euro coins dedicated to the legendary history of Ducati, the famous "redhead" of Borgo Panigale.

These coins, which are part of the “Italian Excellence” series and will be available both individually and presented in a triptych, represent a visual journey through the innovation and design that have made Ducati a symbol of excellence in the world of the two wheels, thus celebrating the most iconic models of the historic motorcycle manufacturer; from the revolutionary Cucciolo of 1949, the motorcycle that wrote the first pages of the Ducati epic, to the 916, immortal icon of motorcycle design, to end with the Panigale, the perfect synthesis between power and elegance.

The first piece of this series shows us on its reverse, colored in the case of the coins presented in triptych, the first motorcycle manufactured by Ducati in 1949, a Cucciolo. On the right, there is the year of issue of the coin "2024", at the bottom, the face value "5 EURO" and the letter "R", identifying the Rome Mint, while on the left We see the author's signature "A.Vecchio", and at the top, in the shape of an arch, the inscription "DUCATI".

The reverse of this second coin contains a color image of the Ducati 916 motorcycle, designed by Massimo Tamburini, which in 2014 was described by Motorcycle News magazine as "the most beautiful motorcycle of the last 50 years."

The reverse of the third coin contains a central, full-color image of the Ducati Panigale motorcycle, the latest sports motorcycle model produced by Ducati.

And finally, the obverse, without color in the case of the coins presented in triptych, shows an image of the historic Ducati factory in Borgo Panigale, Bologna, from 1935, in which the Ducati logo stands out in the upper right part. . Surrounding the composition is the inscription along the border of the issuing country “REPUBBLICA ITALIANA”.
