On May 6, the Bank of Hungary issued two versions of the same coin on the occasion of the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games and the XVII Paralympic Games. The first piece for 15,000 florins is minted in silver, while the second, for 3,000 florins, is made of cupro-nickel. Both have an identical design in which only the face value number changes.

In 2024, Paris will host the XXXIII Olympiad and the XVII Paralympic Games. The French capital is the second city to host the Summer Olympic Games for the third time and the Summer Paralympic Games for the first time. During the 128-year history of the modern Summer Olympic Games, the Hungarian Olympic team has won a total of 525 medals, including 184 gold medals, thus occupying the distinguished eighth place in the all-time medal table of the Olympic Games. At the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games, 10,500 athletes from more than 200 countries will compete in a total of 329 events in 32 sports. The Hungarian team is expected to be represented at the Paris Games by around 190 athletes.

As at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, the best athletes will compete in 22 sports for medals in Paris, although this time in 549 events. So far Hungarian para-athletes have won 160 medals at the Paralympic Games. According to preliminary surveys, Hungary hopes to “achieve the best results of all time with the largest team in its history,” a team of more than 50 athletes.

The silver and cupro-nickel versions feature the same coin design. Only their names are different. In the spirit of equality, integration and inclusion, the central bank wishes to convey the message of “united team, one country”.

The obverse of the coin shows the modern representation of four sports: hammer throwing, canoeing, swimming and table tennis. It is in these sports that Hungarian teams have the greatest chance of winning medals. The abstract figures that represent sports are represented in the same way, with the same weight, whether they are able-bodied athletes or para-athletes. Genders are also equally represented, as the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games and the XVII Paralympic Games are the first events in which an equal number of male and female athletes will compete. The horizontal lines that become more numerous as they approach the figures simultaneously express the dynamism of sports and represent water waves. The obligatory design elements of collector coins are found on the obverse: prominently in the upper legend is the inscription “MAGYARORSZÁG” (Hungary), while at the bottom is the year of minting “2024 ». Almost hidden in the design of the coin, on the left side of the central horizontal axis is the mintmark 'BP', while on the right side the denominations '15 000' or '3000' and the inscription 'FORINT' are shown. ' along the edge. Designer Zoltán Endrődy's mark is located on the right edge of the coin, near a canoe paddle.

The reverse shows an abstract top view of a stadium, with the logos of the Hungarian Olympic team and the Hungarian Paralympic team in the middle. As on the obverse, this static image is made more dynamic thanks to the lines that become more numerous towards the center, symbolizing the fans and, in a broader sense, the professional and social bases behind the athletes. The inscription 'MAGYAR OLIMPIAI ÉS PARALIMPIAI CSAPAT' (Hungarian Olympic and Paralympic Team) is seen in the top legend, and the host of the Summer Games makes an appearance through the inscription at the bottom that reads 'Párizs' (Paris).
