The Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) has issued, on March 20, a silver coin to commemorate 100 years since the formation of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee.

The Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC) was established on March 30, 1923 with the mediation of the Bulgarian diplomat and politician Dimitar Stanchov, the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship and the Ministry of National Education.

Representatives of the 16 sports organizations of the time participated in it, and General Eftim Kitanchev, an eminent sportsman who supported with his own funds the participation of the Bulgarian team in the VIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris in 1924, was elected president.

The BOC established itself as a leader of the sport movement in Bulgaria and an active participant in the international Olympic Movement. It played a key role in the dissemination of Olympic values, spirit and sports culture, supporting the development of national legislation in this area.

On the reverse of the currency, the Bulgarian Olympic Committee logo is presented, surrounded by a crown of Bulgarian traditional ethnic motif from Bulgaria).

There is also the year of issue “2023” and the word “ЛЕВА” (cams) written on both sides.
