Last Monday, January 4, the second installment of the series of coins dedicated to The Smurfs was issued by the Monnaie de Paris. These new coins that complete the series were scheduled for last September, but they have finally been delayed to these dates of 2021, although the pieces come with a 2020 mintage date.

The new issue is made up of 13 coins. 10 in silver of 333 purity or fineness with facials of 10 euros (5 colored and 5 not), 2 of 50 euros in silver of 900 colored, and one of 200 euros in gold of 999 purity.

Iconic little goblins, the Smurfs make their first appearance on Johan and Pirlouit's album "La Flute à six Schtroumpfs" (The Flute of the Smurfs) created by Belgian cartoonist Peyo in 1958. Since then, these cheeky, blue characters white cap have had adventures through numerous albums.

La Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to the comic strip and Peyo's work, as well as the hundreds of iconic characters, all similar but different in character.
