On April 15, a new commemorative bimetallic 10-yuan coin was issued in China, dedicated to the "Hainan Rainforest National Park." This coin belongs to a series called " National Parks of China" that celebrates the country's natural wealth.

These coins are issued by the People's Bank of China and distributed through commercial banks and official platforms at their face value. They can be used as a means of payment, although they usually remain in the hands of collectors.

Hainan Rainforest National Park

Hainan National Rainforest Park, established in 2021, is located on Hainan Island, south of China. It is the largest intact tropical forest in the country and is home to a wealth of biodiversity, including endangered species such as the Hainan gibbon. Its main objective is to conserve the tropical ecosystem and promote sustainable ecological development.
 

The reverse of the coin depicts a landscape characteristic of the Hainan rainforest, including the Hainan gibbon, Wuzhishan Mountain, the Wanquan River, and the Hainan pheasant. It also features the inscription "Hainan Rainforest National Park" in Chinese characters and the face value.
 

On the other hand, the obverse of the coin features the national emblem of the People's Republic of China in the center, surrounded by the upper semicircular inscription of the country's name, and below, the year of issue "2025."

It is crucial for water conservation and biodiversity, protecting species such as the snow leopard, wild yak, and Tibetan antelope. Its creation reflects China's efforts to preserve its most strategic natural resources. 
 

The reverse of the 2023 Chinese 10-yuan coin dedicated to Sanjiangyuan National Park depicts a landscape representative of the Tibetan Plateau, with towering mountains in the background. In the foreground, a Tibetan antelope stands out, an emblematic species of the region and a symbol of wildlife protection. The scene conveys the vastness and ecological purity of the park, which houses the sources of three major Asian rivers. The inscription "Sanjiangyuan National Park" in Chinese characters also appears next to the face value.

The mintage of this coin is 80 million. The obverse is the same as all the coins in the series, with only the year of issue varying.

Giant Panda National Park (2023)

The Giant Panda National Park, established in 2020, is located in the provinces of Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu. It covers more than 27,000 km² and protects around 80% of the world's giant panda population. It was designed to connect isolated habitats and also conserve other endangered species such as the red panda and the snow leopard. 
 

The reverse depicts a giant panda mother and her young, both depicted on Mount Siguniang, surrounded by bamboo forests and a green-tailed rainbow pheasant. The coin also features the inscription "Giant Panda National Park" and the face value "10 yuan."

The mintage of this coin is 80 million. The obverse is the same as all the coins in the series, with only the year of issue varying.

Northeast China Tiger and Leopard National Park

The Northeast China National Tiger and Leopard Park, established in 2021, is located in Jilin and Heilongjiang. It protects endangered species such as the Siberian tiger and the Amur leopard, with populations increasing thanks to advanced monitoring and conservation systems. 
 

The reverse of the coin depicts a scene with a recumbent Siberian tiger in the foreground, while another tiger is seen in the background. Both animals are depicted in a composition of red pines, the Laoye Mountains, the Hunchun River, and several sika deer. Framing the scene are the name of the park and the face value of 10 yuan at the top and bottom of the design.

The mintage of this coin is 60 million. The obverse is the same as all the coins in the series, with only the year of issue varying.
