Quite pleasing, sharp and even a touch frosted portrait laid upon a valiantly reflective yellow-gold planchet, marred by a faint graffiti behind the King's head.

A coveted and scarce issue, seldom available on the marketplace. Careful scrutiny reveals light traces of prior mounting on jewelry and scattered handling marks, nonetheless the designs are well-rendered and handsomely conveyed on a gently amber-toned planchet.

 Carol I bronze-gilt Ban 1888-B MS62 NGC, Bucharest mint, KM-A18a, Stamb-039-1.2. Mintage: 500. One of the few certified Mint State survivors of this historic type distributed by the Royal Palace for charity and valued at the rate of a 20 Lei piece. The offering faces up much finer than the grade would suggest, covered in neat surfaces and impressively crisp devices, which display incredibly little handling even under magnification.
