5. George II Rakoczi gold 10 Ducat 1655-NB AU Details (Cleaned) NGC, Nagybanya mint

Rare Transylvanian 10 Ducat

George II Rakoczi gold 10 Ducat 1655-NB AU Details (Cleaned) NGC, Nagybanya mint, KM287, Fr-394, Montenuovo-Unl., Horsky-Unl., Resch-85, MBR-2139. 34.66gm. A phenomenal and scarce representative of Transylvanian origin which so few ever have the opportunity to view. Featuring a standing armored bust of George II Rákóczi holding scepter and imbued with splendidly preserved detail, the issue at hand is elevated to a level of eye appeal that is virtually unattainable for the type. With so many falling victim to similar conditional qualifiers when surveying auction results, it is clear our specimen ranks among the best. And despite surface wisps, it is an especially rare occasion that a clearly cleaned coin nonetheless maintains such a palpable visual allure as does the piece seen here. A miraculous survivor by all measures, and a coin destined for a truly elite type collection of Transylvanian or European gold.

6. Sigismund Bathory Taler 1597-NB AU Details (Cleaned) NGC, Nagybanya mint

Sigismund Bathory Taler 1597-NB AU Details (Cleaned) NGC, Nagybanya mint, Dav-8808. Highly attractive despite the seemingly common conditional qualifier, having witnessed a cleaning long ago and pleasingly retoned to a soft gunmetal patina. Ample remnant details decorates the piece at hand, which will surely peak the interest of Transylvanian collectors regardless.

Metal: Silver

7. Gabriel Bethlen Taler 1621-KB AU50 PCGS, Kremnitz mint

Gabriel Bethlen Taler 1621-KB AU50 PCGS, Kremnitz mint, KM134, Dav-4710, Resch-81. A popular and always contested issue of Gabriel Bethlen that garners significant interest when seen at sale in any grade, let alone only gently handled as is witnessed here. Displaying a fine and deep cabinet tone likely the result of long-term storage in a prominent cabinet and best appreciated when viewed in hand.

9. Karl VI gold Ducat 1712-IFK MS61 NGC, Hermannstadt mint

Karl VI gold Ducat 1712-IFK MS61 NGC, Hermannstadt mint, KM551, Fr-517, Resch-2. 3.47gm. Johann Franz Kropf as mintmaster. Highly engaging for a type we've only handled once before which remained on the cusp of Mint State designations, yet here we present a decidedly uncirculated offering. Mint radiance abounds this flashy survivor of a type undoubtedly used extensively in circulation and certain to entice the collector of elusive Transylvanian gold issues. Accompanied by a COA from Skarbnica Narodowa.
