At the height of the year we are in, I was not expecting the issuance of this well-deserved coin dedicated to the Spanish Women's Soccer Team that was proclaimed World Champion in the World Cup held last summer. Currency that is announced for next Tuesday, December 19.This silver coin and some colored notes will be a very nice souvenir that will permanently highlight the achievement of our WORLD CHAMPIONS.
In addition, this coin has an interesting novelty, as King Felipe VI is represented with a beard for the first time.
WORLD CHAMPIONS 2023
The FIFA Women's World Cup is an international football competition involving the senior women's national teams of member countries of FIFA, the sport's international governing body. The competition has been held every four years since 1991. Only four teams had won the Women's World Cup before this edition: the United States, Japan, Germany and Norway. The last championship, held in Australia and New Zealand, was held in August 2023. In a very exciting final, the SPAIN team became the fifth winner of this competition.
To celebrate this achievement, the Royal Mint issues a silver coin with the image of the Women's World Cup trophy between a stylized flag of Spain and the champion star of this competition in the background.
On the obverse the portrait on the left of His Majesty King Felipe VI is reproduced. At the top, in a circular direction and in capital letters, the legend Felipe VI King of Spain appears. At the bottom, between two points, the year of minting 2023. A pearl graphic surrounds the motifs and legends.
