The National Bank of Bulgaria has issued a new coin from the Bulgarian Renaissance series on February 6, dedicated to commemorating 200 years since the birth of Nayden Gerov.

Nayden Gerov (February 23, 1823 – October 9, 1900) was a Bulgarian writer, folk linguist, translator, and diplomat.

His main work was his unique Dictionary of the Bulgarian Language (Рѣчникъ на блъгарскъıй язъıкъ) published in five volumes. Where he collected for about 50 years a large number of proverbs, words, expressions, proper names and popular songs of the country. This book was considered one of the most valuable sources for the study of the Bulgarian language in the 19th century.

On the reverse side of the coin is a portrait of Nayden Gerov and the text “200 ГОДИНИ ОТ РОЖДЕНИЕТО НА НАЙДЕН ГЕРОВ” (200 years from the birth of Nayden Gerov) inscribed in a circle.

While on the obverse we can see the logo of the Bulgarian National Bank with the year "1879", the face value of '10 ЛЕВА' (10 leva), an image of the school building based on Koprivshtitsa, and the year of issue "2023" inscribed at the bottom. The text “БЪЛГАРСКА НАРОДНА БАНКА” (National Bank of Bulgaria) surrounds the central motif.
