The Bank of Hungary will issue two coins with the same design to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the restoration of the Budapest Stock Exchange. With the reopening of the Stock Market, one of the foundations of a competitive and innovative economy was restored. The collector coins in honor of this key event in the country's economic history were designed by artist Zoltán Endrődy.
The coins will be issued on Monday June 22 and have two facials, 2,000 and 20,000 guilders, minted in cupronickel and 925 silver respectively.
As the successor to the first Hungarian stock exchange established more than 150 years ago, in 1864, the Budapest Stock Exchange (BÉT) plays a key role in the capital markets in Hungary and in the Central European region. Due to the strong development that took place after its restoration 30 years ago, on June 21, 1991, today BÉT has become today one of the most innovative markets in the region. As the central agent of the Hungarian capital and money markets, it offers economic operators opportunities to raise funds and offers a wide range of investment possibilities.

The thematic part of the coin presents the typical operation of stock exchanges. In the middle vertical axis the bell appears in a compartment that symbolizes the opening of the stock market, which also serves as a form of celebration when a security is listed for the first time on the market. The composition is completed with the BÉT logo at the bottom. For stock trends, the images of the bull, symbolizing an upward trajectory in the stock market, and the bear, representing a drop in the exchange rate, are placed to the left and right on two horizontal lines at different levels. The visualization of growth and recession is further highlighted by the dense representation of the bull and the linear composition of the bear. The mandatory additional elements of collector coins are the denominations of 10,000 or 2,000 guilders, the year of issue ʻ2020ʼ and the mint mark ʻBP.ʼ which contains security features in the form of a micro letter. The mark of the artist Zoltán Endrődy, designer of the coins is shown below the representation of the bull.
The most important index of the evolution of the stock market is shown on the obverse of the coins, in the center. A line chart, showing changes in the BUX index, relative to international trends, is in the middle surrounded by a line. The prominent years refer to the most crucial events in the history of the stock exchange since the reopening of the Budapest Stock Exchange. Behind the line chart is a world map created from descending and ascending arrows, representing fluctuations in economic growth. In the outer ring, at the top, the key values of BÉT are placed: ʻNÖVEKEDÉS - GYARAPODÁS - FENNTARTHATÓSÁGʼ (promotion - growth - sustainability). At the bottom is the name of the issuing country ʻMAGYARORSZÁG figura (Hungary).
