Perhaps the fact of having to prepare very quickly an issue of coins dedicated to a current issue has meant that the new pieces that the Bank of Lithuania will issue on July 1 do not have a very elaborate design, it may be too simple, but they have their charm and meaning that is already manifested starting with the name with which they have been called «Coins of Hope», coins with which they want to recognize all the groups in the country that have remained active in the fight against the pandemic of the covid-19, which is having to suffer Lithuania and the entire planet.

Asta Kuniyoshi, deputy governor of the central bank of Lithuania, said about the issuance of these two coins that have the same design: "We wanted to say 'thank you' to the doctors, to the health personnel in general, to the public transport drivers, to the teachers who worked remotely, store workers and those who were kept in isolation and prevented the spread of the virus, "adding" the coin is a coin of hope because, even in the darkest point, we believed that by staying together we would come to the light ».

As I said, there are two coins with the same design, the work of Marija Marcelionytė-Paliukė, in which the nominal value changes, one of 1.5 and the other of 5 euros, the type of metal, the quality of the minting and a note of color present in the largest facial.

The reverse of the coin represents a ray of light that illuminates the year 2020, which is the main symbol of the coin dedicated to Hope. The shadows that extend from the date numbers form the SOS (Save Our Souls) international distress signal: humanity must and must stop, unite and make future-oriented decisions. The mystical scenographic composition on the reverse bears witness that enlightenment comes when you least expect it, just when there seems to be no hope. The coin also features the inscription LIETUVA (LITHUANIA) and the denomination (€ 5 or € 1.50).

On the minimalist obverse of the coin is a pointed arrow from a measuring instrument, having reached its critical limit. This is a symbol of the collision with one's existence: before taking a potentially fatal step, a person begins to doubt the meaning of everyday decisions while clinging to life. On the obverse there is also the brand of the Lithuanian Mint.

The inscription on the coin features the inscription in Latin and Lithuanian: POST TENEBRAS SPERO LUCEM * PO TAMSYBIŲ VILIUOSI ŠVIESOS (AFTER DARKNESS, I WAIT FOR THE LIGHT).

In Spain, I can tell you, that the FNMT works in a currency with similar characteristics, as for the reason, that if everything goes normal it will see the light by the end of the year. The design and facial value that it will have is unknown. What I can tell you is that some of the designs that you sent me and that I in turn sent to the FNMT, are candidates to be minted in the coin, along with others made by the engravers of the Spanish Mint. . I hope to be able to communicate more news about it soon.
