This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of János Harsányi, a scientist awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics. To commemorate the anniversary, the Bank of Hungary issues two coins with the same design, to pay tribute to the renowned researcher of "game theory", who shared the 1994 Nobel Prize for Economic Sciences along with two other scientists, John Forbes Nash and Reinhald Selten. His pioneering work in the area of fundamental analysis of equilibrium in the theory of non-cooperative games continues to be a fundamental instrument of analysis on political economy.

The collector coins designed by the sculptor Balázs Pelcz were issued by the Bank of Hungary on May 29 and have two facials, 2,000 and 20,000 guilders, minted in cupronickel and 925 silver respectively.

The thematic side presents the winner of the Nobel Prize for Economic Sciences with a portrait of János Harsányi as the central motif. On the left, the inscription HARSÁNYI, and on the right JÁNOS, are shown in an upper legend in the form of an arch, while and the years 1920 - 2000 indicating the birth and death of the renowned scientist are shown in the lower legend. Beneath the portrait is the mark of the sculptor Balázs Pelcz.

The central motif on the obverse of the coin is an endless triangular set of stairs representing a hierarchical structure. A railing breaks the circular line that surrounds the central motif on the left, and a staircase emerges from the center of the stair on the right. On the obverse there is a symbolic representation of the idea of Harsányi, deserving of the Nobel Prize. Accordingly, he changed an infinite regression (represented by the set of stairs) to a much simpler phrase (represented by the stair). The obligatory elements of the Hungarian collector coins are also found on the obverse: on the border, in the upper legend, the text ʻMAGYARORSZÁGʼ (Hungary) is displayed, and at the bottom the denomination ʻ2000 or 20000ʼ and the inscription ʻFORINTʼ, a the left,
