The Speratti sisters' portraits move from 2,000 to 50,000 guaraníes, and the 10,000 guaraní note debuts a new polymer print. Paraguay's new family of banknotes redistributes its featured figures and dedicates the reverse sides to six landscapes of the country. It retains the current denominations but changes the designs and sizes.
The Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) presented the designs on October 5, 2026. Their entry into circulation is scheduled to begin in 2027. Here are the six banknotes, with official images of both sides and a video from the BCP.

What changes in materials, size, and safety?
The 10,000 is in addition to the 2,000 and 5,000 polymer values; the three higher values retain the cotton. All are 67 millimeters tall and increase in length by 7 millimeters with each value increase.
The tactile markings are dots on the polymer and lateral lines on the cotton. The cultural motifs depicted on each obverse incorporate color-changing ink, a security feature common to the new series.
Guarani Color Material Measures
2,000 Violet Polymer 125 × 67 mm
5,000 Red Polymer 132 × 67 mm
10,000 Orange Polymer 139 × 67 mm
20,000 Yellow Cotton 146 × 67 mm
50,000 Sky blue Cotton 153 × 67 mm
100,000 Green Cotton 160 × 67 mm
When will they start circulating?
According to the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) treasurer, the first banknotes are expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2027, starting with 5,000, 50,000, and 100,000 guaraníes. The remaining denominations will be introduced gradually.
Current tickets will remain valid and will coexist with the new ones, with no announced deadline or obligation to exchange them.
A note for collectors: these presentation images include some sample signatures. The final year, signatures, and series should be verified on circulating examples.
