The United States continues the series of "American Women Quarters" coins, with the issuance, on March 27, of its seventh coin, dedicated on this occasion to the famous Hawaiian composer and dancer Edith Kanakaʻole.

Let's remember that this series of coins will be made up of 20 pieces that will honor the achievements and contributions made by women to the development of the United States. The program will last 4 years, starting in 2022, and five new coins will be issued each year.

The reverse of the coin features a portrait of Edith Kanakaʻole, with her hair and lei poʻo (head lei) morphing into the elements of a Hawaiian landscape, symbolizing Kanakaʻole's lifelong work of preserving the natural land and traditional Hawaiian culture. The inscription "E hō mai ka ʻike" translates to "bestow wisdom" and is a reference to the intertwined role hula playing and chanting play in this preservation.

While the obverse features a portrait of George Washington, originally composed and sculpted by Laura Gardin Fraser to commemorate George Washington's 200th birthday. The inscriptions appear: "LIBERTY", "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "2023".
