2021 is the year in which the 60th anniversary of the first manned space flight is commemorated. On April 12, 1961, the Vostok-1 space vehicle was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. For the first time in human history, a manned spacecraft entered outer space and orbited Earth. The flight lasted one hour and 48 minutes. This day will always be remembered forever as the day the first human conquered space.

To commemorate the anniversary, the Bank of Russia has issued four coins, all with the same design and the same face value, 25 rubles, differentiated by metals, qualities, diameters, colors ... There are those that have short runs and high prices, but also with high print runs and quite affordable prices.

 The composition features relief images of a flying winged human figure and a star made with an artificial stone insert, on a background with stylized images of colors in a sky full of stars and mythological creatures: the zodiacal constellations of Taurus, Leo, and Sagittarius; below, along the edge the inscriptions: '12 АПРЕЛЯ 1961 г. '(APRIL 12, 1961) and '60 ЛЕТ ПЕРВОГО ПОЛЕТА ЧЕЛОВЕКА В КОСМОС' (60th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST CREW SPACE FLIGHT).

Coin obverse

 

 The obverse, common to all coins, except for small details, shows a relief image of the coat of arms of the Russian Federation, the inscription in a semicircle “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (Russian Federation). Below the inscriptions in three lines: “БАНК РОССИИ” (Bank of Russia), the value of the coin “25 РУБЛЕЙ” (25 RUBLES), the year of issue “2021” and the mint mark shown on the right.
