Next Monday, April 26, the National Mint and Stamp Factory - Real Casa de la Moneda plans to issue a coin to commemorate the 800th anniversary of Burgos Cathedral.

King Ferdinand III of Castile and Bishop Mauricio, educated in Paris, were the ones who started this prodigious construction, based on the latest European Gothic style.
From the beginning, the Cathedral had a remarkably international character. Thus, its structure was based on the purest French models, being the first classical Gothic building in Spain. Spanish and foreign architects worked throughout the 13th century to build one of the most outstanding buildings in medieval Spain.

On the reverse, in the center of the coin, there is an image of the Cathedral of Burgos; below, horizontally, the years 1221 and 2021, separated by a hyphen. In the upper part, on the right, in a descending circular direction and in capital letters, the legend
Catedral de Burgos, and below, horizontally and in two lines, the value of the piece 10 Euro. In the upper part, on the left, the central stained glass window of the Sarmental rose window is reproduced in colors, and below the mint mark.

On the obverse the portrait to the left of His Majesty King Felipe VI is reproduced. In the upper part, in a circular sense and in capital letters, appears the legend Felipe VI King of Spain. At the bottom, between two points, the year of minting 2021. The motifs and legends are surrounded by a beading of pearls.
