The Bank of Hungary (Magyar Nemzeti Bank) has put into circulation two million pieces of a 50-guilder coin (€ 0.14) of a commemorative type, to celebrate the «1st 50th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Hungarian Fire Brigade and the Hungarian Fire Services Association ”.
Count Ödön Széchenyi laid the foundations for organized fire departments in Hungary, with the recruitment of the first volunteers and the creation of professional associations and, finally, the national collaboration of different associations across Hungary. As a result of his efforts, in 1870 the Hungarian Fire Brigade Federation was created, legal predecessor of the current Hungarian Fire Brigade Association. In Hungary, Firefighters' Day has been officially celebrated on May 4 since 1991, in commemoration of Saint Florian, the patron saint of firefighters. Firefighters' Day 2020 has been chosen to put the coin into circulation.

The coin features a stylized composition of a decorated fireman's helmet on two crossed fire axes in the center, surrounded by the contours of a lifeline with a laurel wreath surrounding it in the background. Between the carabiners at both ends of the lifeline, the year 2020 is shown. On the edge of the coin, decorated with a pearl necklace, is the legend MAGYARORSZÁG, with the lower legend 150 ÉVES A SZERVEZETT MAGYAR TŰZOLTÓSÁG (150 Years of the Organized Fire Department in Hungary). The two legends are separated by a flame on each side.
The face value side of the 50 guilder coin is identical to that of the coin currently in circulation, it shows the face value and the letters BP as the mintmark of Budapest.
