For the second consecutive year, the British Mint The Royal Mint has issued a coin, in different versions, dedicated to the classic Christmas story The Snowman. Although last year it was to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the publication of this work of the children's literary Raymond Briggs, this year simply with it you want to announce the arrival of Christmas.

The coin presents the two protagonists of the story where it is told in a 32-page story, drawn only with colored pencils and without words, how a child on a cold winter day decides to make a great snowman that, at midnight and by magic, comes alive. Then, together, they will spend an incredible night full of fun and tender moments.

In 1982, the story was adapted as a 26-minute animated short film, which became a great worldwide success; even being nominated for the Oscar as best short film. Such was its impact that since then, every year at Christmas, it is broadcast again on television in the United Kingdom for the enjoyment of young and old.
