The Bank of Lithuania has posted on its website an almost real image, which I am going to show you, of which it will be the second 2-euro coin commemorating the series started in 2019 dedicated to the «Lithuanian ethnographic regions». In 2020 the protagonist will be the «Aukštaitija Region». The series will consist of five currencies, same as regions in Lithuania. Predictably one will be issued per year.

The national side of the coin, designed by Rolandas Rimkūnas, features a coat of arms with a knight dressed in armor holding a sword in his right hand. The coat of arms is held by two angels, who symbolically exalt and protect Aukštaitija, one of the most important regions of Lithuania and cradle of its state. The Latin inscription "PATRIAM TUAM MUNDUM EXISTIMA" (considers that your homeland is the entire world) is shown at the bottom of the coat of arms. The composition is surrounded by the inscriptions "LIETUVA" (Lithuania), the name of the region "AUKŠTAITIJA", the year of issue (2020) and the Lithuanian mint mark. The outer ring of the coin features the 12 stars of the European Union flag.

The song of the currency, like all those issued by Lithuania in this value, has the legends: LAISVĖ * VIENYBĖ * GEROVĖ * (FREEDOM * UNIT * WELFARE *).

The issuance date is planned during the first quarter of 2020. It will have an emission volume of 500,000 pieces, of which 5,000 in BU quality will be issued in a coincard, at the approximate price of € 9.
