The Philatelic and Numismatic Division of San Marino has issued its first bullion or investment type coin, a coin that has been minted by a Mint already established in pieces of this type, we are referring to the Austrian Münze Österreich.

The protagonist of this new coin made up of one ounce of pure silver is the Peregrine Falcon, the fastest bird in the world, which initiates a new type of currency in Malta.

The coin has a face value of 5 euros and its circulation is limited to 15,000 pieces. It is also announced that this will be the first coin in a series dedicated to the Peregrine Falcon that will continue over time.

The reverse of the coin created by the artist Anna Schlindner depicts a peregrine falcon in flight (the coin is completed with the legend SAN MARINO and the year 2024 at the top, the inscription PEREGRINE FALCON on the left, the words 1 OZ and Ag 999 and the value 5 EURO). The choice of this motif for the coin is due to the elegance of the native Maltese bird of prey that nests in a niche in the cliff near the First Tower at the top of Monte Titano.

On the obverse there is the coat of arms of the Republic of San Marino and the name of the author of the design, Antonella Napolione.
