On February 22, a new coin is issued in Poland under the name "In Memory of the Ulma Family", this coin pays tribute to Józef and Wiktoria Ulma, a Polish couple who lived in Markowa, Poland, with their 6 children. minors. Known for trying to rescue a Jewish family by hiding them in their own home during the N**i occupation in World War II. They and their children were summarily executed on March 24, 1944 for this act.
On December 18, 2022, Pope Francis declared the entire family venerable and they were beatified on September 10, 2023.
The reverse of the coin depicts the Ulma family: Józef and Wiktoria and their children: Stanisława, Barbara, Władysław, Franciszek, Antoni and Maria. The heart-shaped amber symbolizes the seventh child, as Wiktoria was pregnant when they were executed.
On the obverse of the coin appears a composition of palm leaves and lily flowers: the palm leaf is a symbol of martyrdom, while seven lily flowers symbolize the innocence of seven children.
