Today, January 10, 2023, the 2-euro commemorative French coin dedicated to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games has been issued. This coin is part of a four-piece series that began in 2021 and will end in 2024, one being issued per year.
On the occasion of the 2024 Paris Summer Games, La Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to this renowned international competition through a collection that highlights the sport, its values, the athletes, but also the heritage of the host country. Olympism and Paralympism are celebrated with these coins.
The national side of the 2023 coin represents Semeuse (sower), an icon of French numismatics. She is represented with boxing gloves, in reference to this sport, Olympic since 1904. Her silhouette blends with the Pont Neuf (New Bridge), a key element of Parisian heritage and the oldest of the stone bridges in Paris. In the background, an athletics track is depicted in which the emblem of Paris 2024 is inserted on the right side. The indication of the sending state "RF" is on the left. On the bridge there is the year of issue "2023", in the lower left and right part of the feet of the Semuese, respectively, the mint mark and that of the engraver, Joaquin Jimenez.
This coin, like that of previous years, does not go into circulation and it is only possible to purchase it in one of the 250,000 BU quality presented in five different coincards (the color changes), and 10,000 Proof quality (BE for the French).
As you can see on the back of the coincard there is the circulation of each one, 50,000. As there are five colors, we get the exact figure of 250,000 in this presentation.
Above you see the five versions of the coincard, in which only the color changes.
As I said before, the other 10,000 that complete the issue are issued in Proof quality.
