The Bank of Slovenia plans to issue a 3-euro bimetallic face coin for March 3 to honor the Slovenian painter Matija Jama, considered one of the most important representatives of Impressionism that the country has produced and of the It is the 150th anniversary of his birth.
The coin is issued in BU and Proof grades. The first will go on sale in Slovenia for 3 euros, and the second for 17. With the same design, but with different faces, silver and gold pieces, not bimetallic, are also issued at prices of 50 and 440 euros, respectively.
The central motif of the collector coin commemorating the 150th anniversary of the birth of the painter Matija Jama, are three young birch trunks. These represent the young man, the artist and the painter, who embark on their creative path in parallel. His brushstrokes create the basis for a dynamic background of soft relief, reminiscent of the surface of Impressionist paintings, and portray the painter's nomadic life. The design of the coin corresponds to Matej Štanta.
