Last day 7 I told you about the controversy that had broken out in Croatia with the design of one of its euro coins, after a design contest revealed the winners that will be minted in the Croatian euro coins that will begin to circulate from January 1, 2023, today I am expanding the information with the news about it.

As you will remember, the winning design of the 1 euro coin in which a Marta must be represented was denounced for plagiarism, once it was discovered and made public that the image used had been copied from a Scottish photographer, the designer decided to withdraw his project , so you had to find a new one for the coin.

The Bank of Croatia, which was the one who called the design contest, thought of using the one that had been in second position, which, as was mandatory, also presented the silhouette of a Marta. Before the decision was made, the same problem arose again, the image had also been plagiarized.

Above we see the design that came in second place and was quickly discarded. Below we see that it could have been taken from an internet publication that deals with animals and hunting.

By the way, since we have seen the first two designs, I also show you the one that came in third position.

Finally, and after everything that has happened, the Bank of Croatia has decided to hold a new contest, which is already underway, but only for the design of this coin, the rest of the values will continue with those announced . Predictably, by the middle or end of March we will know the final design of this coin, which will be born with a controversial story behind it.

To prepare what I have told you here, I have had to look for a lot of information, among this I have found something that I think may be interesting for you to know. It is a PDF document where you can see all the designs, for all the coins, that were in the first three positions in the contest organized by the Bank of Croatia. You can also meet the designers and more details about this new series of coins.

Here you have the original, in Croatian language , and here the same document translated into Spanish.
