This year marks the 25th anniversary of the death of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, something that has not gone unnoticed either by the world of numismatics. Without going any further, the Vatican City plans to issue a commemorative 2-euro coin dedicated to the nun, this piece will surely be very well received among collectors of 2-euro coins and other people outside numismatics who admire the character. . Mother Teresa (1910-1997) was born as Anjezë Bojaxhiu in Skopje (current capital of North Macedonia). In the Catholic Church she is known as Saint Teresa of Calcutta, an Albanian-Indian Roman Catholic nun and missionary.
Mother Teresa, the Angel of Mercy, spent her entire life helping those who had nowhere to go and nowhere to turn. Wherever she went, Mother Teresa never shied away from difficult or unpleasant situations and she always cared for the needs of the poorest of the poor, the homeless, the sick and the dying. Teresa herself received numerous honors, including the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize. She was canonized on September 4, 2016.
