On December 9, the Royal Mint issues the first five coins of the "History of Aviation" series, a few days later, on the 14th, the remaining fifteen are issued, which will complete the twenty that make up the collection, where They have selected the most representative aircraft in history, appearing several in which Spain has participated in their manufacture.

This series will follow the same line as that issued between 2018 to 2019 under the name History of Navigation. The face value will be the same, 1.5 euros, they will be minted in a cupro-nickel alloy with a diameter of 33 mm, and the face on which each of the planes is presented is in full color.

The first five come together with an exclusive album, where you can keep the complete collection and an explanatory brochure of each of the aircraft represented on the coins, apart from a description of the Museum of Aeronautics and Astronautics of Spain and the minting process of the coins.


The first five

Bell X-1


On the obverse, in the central circular area, an image of a Bell X-1 is reproduced in color. In the upper part, in a circular sense and in capital letters, the legend BELL X-1. The motifs and legends in the central area are surrounded by a line of pinions. In the outer zone of the coin, a series of geometric motifs symbolize the shapes of the clouds and, in the lower part, in an ascending circular direction and in capital letters, appears the legend SPAIN and the year of minting 2020.

Concorde
 

On the obverse, in the central circular area, an image of the Concorde is reproduced in color. In the upper part, in a circular sense and in capital letters, the legend CONCORDE.

Northrop F-5
 
 


On the obverse, in the central circular area, an image of a Northrop F-5 is reproduced in color. In the upper part, in a circular sense and in capital letters, the legend NORTHROP F-5.

HA-200 Bolt
 
 

 
On the front, in the central circular area, an image of an HA-200 Saeta aircraft is reproduced in color. In the upper part, in a circular sense and in capital letters, the legend HA-200 SAETA.

Wright flyer
 
 

 On the obverse, in the central circular area, an image of Wilbur Wright at the controls of the Wright Flyer is reproduced in color, days before December 17, 1903, when he and his brother Orville made the first powered flight in history . The image is from the collection of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum Archives. In the upper part, in a circular sense and in capital letters, the legend WRIGHT FLYER.

Reverse common to the whole series
 



On the reverse, protruding from a central circle of the coin, the image of a two-bladed propeller is reproduced; above, in two lines and in capital letters, the legend AVIATION HISTORY; below the central image, the value of the 1.5 EURO coin and, below, the mint mark. Outside the central circle, the images of two turbines are reproduced, separated from each other by lines. All the motifs and all the legends are surrounded by a beading of pine nuts.
