The Central Reserve Bank of Peru has put into circulation a new one-sol coin, part of the Peruvian Pre-Columbian Ceramics series, an initiative aimed at promoting the historical and artistic value of the country's main cultures. This coin is dedicated to the Nasca culture, internationally recognized for its extraordinary polychrome ceramics and iconography rich in religious and mythical symbolism.

This issue is part of the ongoing effort to bring archaeological heritage closer to everyday life, allowing millions of Peruvians to hold in their hands a fragment of the ancestral memory of the territory.

The currency

On the reverse, in the center, is the image of a ceramic vessel (sculptural pitcher) depicting a mythical anthropomorphic being holding two figures, one of the most complex representations of a Nasca deity. At the top is the phrase “NASCA CULTURE”

On the obverse, in the central part, the Coat of Arms of Peru is observed surrounded by the legend “BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ”, the year of minting and an inscribed octagon that forms the edge of the coin.
