Today, January 9, is the date that the Monnaie de Paris had announced the issuance of the fourth commemorative 2-euro coin in the series that France is dedicating since 2021 to the celebration of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
This coin, like that of previous years, does not go into circulation and it is only possible to acquire it in one of the 500,000 presented in five different coincards, and 10,000 in Proof quality (BE for the French).
Due to a problem with the coincards, not the coins, these will not be available until February 20, as reported by the Monnaie de Paris itself. The one that has been issued is the Proof version of this new currency.
In the image we see the five versions of the coincard, and the packaging where the coin is presented in Proof quality.
The national side of the coin represents Hercules and a Gargoyle in position to practice Olympic Wrestling. Their silhouettes merge with the Notre Dame Cathedral, a key element of Parisian heritage. In the background, an athletics track is represented in which the Paris 2024 emblem is inserted on the left side, together with the indication of the issuing State "RF", the year of issue "2024" and the mint mark and the by the engraver, Joaquin Jimenez.
