The Royal Canadian Mint has issued a new gold coin for 2024 that aims to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), one of three corps within the unified Canadian Armed Forces.

With the creation of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) on April 1, 1924, Canada gained its first permanent full-time air force, and its first fleet helped develop aviation in Canada. His formative years, and the vital role he played in the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan during World War II, are represented by the British De Havilland DH-82C Tiger Moth biplane, which is depicted on this coin.

The reverse design features part of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) emblem surrounding a centrally located maple leaf, and above this the de Havilland DH-82C Tiger Moth, which was adopted by the RCAF in 1938, is depicted. Below the track, appears the RCAF motto "Sic Itur ad Astra" ("Such is the way to the stars" in Latin), surrounded on both sides by stylized maple leaves, similar to those of the current insignia of the RCAF. Royal Canadian Air Force.

The obverse of the piece presents the effigy of King Charles III created by the Canadian artist Steven Rosati, framed by the inscriptions of: face value of the coin (100 dollars), year of issue "2024" and the abbreviated Latin legend "DG REX» (Dei Gratia Rex) (By the Grace of God, King).
