I am going to reveal to you the design that presents the first 2 euro commemorative coin of San Marino of 2022. This coin is issued under the name "530th anniversary of the death of Piero Della Francesca" and pays tribute to the so-called painter of the light of the Italian Quattrocento.
The coin depicts one of the painter's best-known works, the emblematic profile of the Duke of Urbino, a masterpiece by Piero della Francesca, one of the greatest Renaissance painters, closely linked to the court of Urbino. The ceremonial portrait of the patron comes from the famous diptych of the Dukes of Urbino, painted in oil on panel and kept in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. On the left is the name of the issuing country "SAN MARINO", on the right side of the image the name of the issue reason, as well as the years "1492" and "2022", the "R" as the mint mark of Rome and the initials CM (Claudia Momoni) belonging to the designer of the coin.
The coin will be issued and put up for sale on April 28, it will be presented in the typical wallets that San Marino uses for commemorative 2-euro coins and its issue volume will be only 55,000 pieces.
