Dedicated to an important event in world sporting life: the XXIV Winter Olympic Games, which are scheduled for February 2022 in the Chinese capital, the Bank of Ukraine issues two coins with the same design dedicated to this sporting event on January 18 .
The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics will officially start on February 4, 2022, although the competition will kick off two days before the Opening Ceremony, with preliminary round matches in curling and ice hockey. The Games will end with the Closing Ceremony on February 20, 2022. 15 disciplines from seven sports will be played. A total of 327 medals will be distributed. There will be new events in bobsleigh, short track, freestyle skiing, ski jumping and snowboarding.
The Ukrainian national team will have representatives in the following sports: biathlon, alpine skiing, skating, curling, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, tobogganing, bobsleigh, snowboarding and skating in its various forms.
On the obverse of the coin are: at the top - the coat of arms of Ukraine, on which is the inscription in a semicircle UKRAINE, below - the head of a colored dragon, as a symbol of ancient legends and myths and one of the symbols China's most famous The year 2022 is presented in a stylized way in the form of a snake; to the left and right, four icons symbolize the Olympic winter sports; the facial, 5 or 10 hryvnias, depending on the currency, appears at the bottom.
The reverse of the coin shows a composition that symbolizes the country where the XXIV Winter Olympic Games will take place, China. On the map of the country, the figures of a snowboarder and a skater are represented. At the bottom you can see the symbol of a snowflake. The logo of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine is at the top left, above which appears the head of a fiery dragon, one of the symbols of the Olympic Games.
