The second circulating and commemorative 2 pound coin from 2022 that was put up for sale a few days ago by The Royal Mint is dedicated to Dame Vera Lynn, a singer who became famous for holding concerts to entertain British soldiers during WWII and that ended up being popularly known as The Bride of the Armed Forces.
The coin is part of the annual set 2022 along with four other commemorative coins and the regular circulation values dated 2022. Right now, to get this coin, you would have to buy the aforementioned set, but later in the year it will go on sale at individually, like the rest of the new commemorative coins.
With a design produced by the Royal Mint's own design team, the legendary life and career of Dame Vera Lynn is honored with a commemorative £ 2 coin. The reverse design features a highly detailed portrait of Dame Vera as she appeared at the peak of her career, accompanied by her name and the dates that indicate the years of her life.
In reference to what was undoubtedly its most famous release, the coin features an inscription on the edge that says "WE'LL MEET AGAIN" (SEE YOU AGAIN). Synonymous with Dame Vera, this wartime classic was a radio staple during WWII that resonated with the countless soldiers who had left their families behind to fight for King and Fatherland.
The obverse of the 2 pound coin features the traditional image of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
