The one considered the first superhero in comic history, Superman, is the protagonist of the third coin in the series dedicated to The Justice League. This series, which began with the pieces dedicated to Batman and Wonder Woman, also issued this year, will consist, in principle, of six coins in which Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg will be represented, in addition to the other three characters already mentioned.
The main motif of the coin shows a representation of Superman flying with the city of Metropolis in the background. His muscular arms are outstretched and his fists clenched, his serious and determined facial expression shows him prepared to face any danger that may arise in the city. To his right is the Superman logo, which also appears on his chest. The metal content (1 ounce of pure silver), the Superman copyright mark, and the DC Comics copyrights appear on the bottom border as signs of authenticity.
The obverse of the coin features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by the name of the country and its face value.
The coin has been minted by the private New Zealand Mint company located in Auckland, New Zealand, which buys precious metals from international sources and then produces coins. The name of the issuing country that appears on the coin is the Island of Niue.
There are two versions with the same design for the coin, in one ounce of silver or one ounce of gold. It has a fairly limited circulation, only 15,000 pieces for the silver one and 150 for the gold one. The coin is officially issued on November 8.
