The 1-dollar coin of the American Innovation series that represents Georgia, fifth of the collection, honors The Trustees' Garden, established by James Oglethorpe, English general and philanthropist, considered the founder of the State of Georgia, at the beginning of the 1730s. The garden covered about 10 acres of land dedicated to botany and agriculture, reflecting the scientific and commercial aspirations of administrators and their patrons in England, being considered the first experimental garden in America.
The garden was to follow the model of the botanical gardens and other Oxford and Chelsea gardens in England. The garden located in today's city of Savannah was also intended to be an agricultural experimentation station for semi-tropical products, mainly silk and wine, which Georgia would provide to its English sponsors and the crown. The imported white mulberry leaves should feed the worms necessary for the cultivation of silk, and the imported vines should be carriers of noble grapes. Other semi-tropical and Mediterranean products would also be grown, from orange and capers to cotton and olives. The objective of this experiment was not aimed at developing an indigenous economy,
The design of this coin represents a hand planting seeds, seeds from which the inscription "TRUSTEES 'GARDEN" is born and above the trees, plants and their fruits, of the varieties of species grown in the garden: an orange seedling, sassafras , grapes, white mulberry, flax, peaches, olive, and a young sprout too small to be identified. Additional entries are «UNITED STATES OS AMERICA» and «GEORGIA».

The obverse presents the same design common to the entire series, in which the image of the Statue of Liberty is presented in profile and the inscriptions "$ 1" and "IN GOD WE TRUST" (IN GOD WE TRUST).
