If we think of a famous composer of soundtracks, the name of Ennio Morricone surely comes to mind, famous for the quantity, but above all for the quality of the more than five hundred soundtracks that he put to movies and television series. On July 6, 2020, the acclaimed Italian musician left us, but his extensive work will remain forever engraved in the collective memory.

The Italian Ministry of Finance has issued a 5 euro coin, minted by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato of Italy, dedicated to the great artist, within a series called Great Italian Artists. Although there are two coins issued, with the same design, I am going to focus on the bimetallic type that are usually more colorful and demanded by collectors.

The obverse of the coin shows the portrait of the Italian composer and conductor Ennio Morricone. Around it, the inscription "ITALIAN REPUBLIC". To the right of the character is the name of the designer «CASSOL» (Maria Angela Cassol).

The reverse depicts the hands of Master Ennio Morricone in the act of directing. Around him, the inscription "ENNIO MORRICONE"; above, the face value "5 EURO"; in the field on the right, «R», identification of the Mint of Rome, and the year of
issue «2021».
