Știați că sfinxul colibri se aseamănă cu o pasăre colibri din cauza zborului foarte rapid?

Sfinxul colibri este o molie din Familia Sphingidae care este activă ziua.
Cu ajutorul trompei (proboscis) se hrănește cu nectarul florilor.
Datorită trompei lungi și a zborului rapid a fost confundat cu păsările colibri. Trebuie reținut că păsările colibri sunt întâlnite doar în cele două Americi.
Fluturele este răspândit în Eurasia și Nordul Africii. În colecția muzeului avem mai multe exemplare din acestă specie.

Tudták, hogy a kertjeinkben kolibrik módjára táplálkozó élőlény valójában egy lepke?
Gyors szárnycsapásainak köszönhetően, a kolibrihez hasonlóan, képes egy helyben lebegni a levegőben a virág előtt, amelyből hosszúra nyújtható pödörnyelvével szívogat.
Életmódja és megjelenése miatt gyakran össze is tévesztik a kolibrikkel (amelyek csak Észak- és Dél-Amerikában honosak).
A kacsafarkú szender a lepkék rendjébe, azon belül pedig a szenderfélék (Sphingidae) családjába tartozik.
Elterjedési területe Eurázsia és Észak-Afrika. A múzeum gyűjteményében több egyed is fellelhető.
