This is the new 3-ounce silver coin that makes use of the Industrial Proof Finish and the Smartminting Ultra High Relief to create an incredible composition where a phrase in the form of a palindrome surrounds and frames this large moth adorned with a skull on its back.
The piece plays with different tones to create the sensation that fire is enveloping this extraordinary flying insect, thus representing the phrase written on its back "in girum imus nocte et consumimur igni" (we go round and round at night and are consumed by the fire).
On the reverse of the coin, a large moth spreading its extensive wings is presented as the central motif, reminding us of what its antagonistic insect, the butterfly, would be. On its back we can see a perfectly represented skull, since thanks to ultra-high relief technology, the entire body of the insect has been elaborated with great realism and detail. Framing the moth, we read the Latin phrase in palindrome and divided into two "in girum imus nocte et consumimur igni", a text that according to legend if written on parchment and set on fire will have the power to evoke the philosopher's stone. The year of issue “2023” also appears at the bottom, camouflaging itself among the colors of fire.
While on the obverse of the piece we see each and every one of the details of the insect represented concavely from its lower part, and the phrase that accompanies it gives the impression of being fire-engraved on the coin itself.
