On May 16, San Marino will issue two different eurosets in BU quality, both will have the eight regular circulation coins dated 2023. One of them will include a silver 5-euro face coin dedicated to the "Protection of the Fauna of San Marino”.

Euroset San Marino 2023

Euroset dedicated to commemorating the San Francisco Gate, the most famous portal in the walls of the city of San Marino, also known as “Porta del Paese”. Built in 1361, it was radically transformed in 1451 with the construction of a gate and a large crenellated tower.

 

It will have a maximum print run of 11,000 units that will be put up for sale in San Marino at a price yet to be determined.

Euroset San Marino 2023 plus 5 euro coin

The theme to which both the euroset and the 5 euro silver coin will be dedicated is the "Wildlife Protection of San Marino". 

 

The reverse of the silver coin features the Italian Geotritone (Speleomantes italicus), a small salamander-like amphibian with strange burrowing habits. Due to its mimetic coloration of brown, ocher and reddish spots, it is very difficult to observe in nature. In San Marino, however, this unusual creature emerges from the subterranean meanders of Mount Titan like nowhere else known, and wanders, shrouded in mist, along the stone walls of the city. We also see the inscriptions "WILD FAUNA PROTECTION", on the right the letter "R", identifier of the Rome Mint, and at the bottom, the value "5 EURO" and the year "2023". 

 

While on the obverse we see represented the Three Towers of Mount Titan, on whose summits the three Feathers are placed, symbols of the Republic of San Marino. On the left the inscription “REPUBBLICA DI SAN MARINO”, on the right the letters CP, initials of Chiara Principe, author of the sketch, and the inscription U. PERNAZZA INC., initials of Uliana Pernazza, who was in charge of the engraving.

The circulation and sale price of this euroset are yet to be determined.
