The German Children's Fund is a children's rights organization founded in 1972 that promotes and enforces children's rights in Germany. The non-profit organization focuses on the participation of children and youth and the fight against child poverty.

In 2022, the German Children's Fund turns 50. Although the initial goal was to improve the situation of playgrounds in Germany, today the organization campaigns for children's rights in all areas.

To celebrate its 50th anniversary and pay tribute to the important work it performs, it was decided to issue a 20-euro silver coin, a coin that was officially issued on April 7.

The coin is made of 925 purity silver. It has a weight of 18 g, a diameter of 32.5 mm and is produced in two qualities, BU and Proof. BU quality coins are put up for sale at their face value (20 euros). The coins in Proof quality have a price of around 40 euros.

The obverse shows the two figures of the logo of the German children's charity, as well as the characteristic hexagonal box, in different sizes, with which donations are collected. Both motifs have the well-known colors of the German Children's Foundation. The figures of the children in the lower part seem to throw the eight hexagons into the air as if in a game.

The reverse shows an eagle, the inscription “BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND”, the face value “20 EURO”, the mintmark “D” (Munich), the year 2022 and the twelve European stars. In addition, the indication of the metal and its purity «SILBER 925».

The inscription "AUF DIE KINDER ANMT ES" (DEPENDS ON THE CHILDREN) is engraved on the smooth edge of the coin.
