The third coin of the four that make up the series dedicated to commemorating the V Centenary of the First Round the World has just been issued, although finally the complete collection will consist of five coins, if we take into account that in 2022 a 2 coin will also be issued. Euro commemorative dedicated to this theme and that will put the series' culmination of the series. All this has been officially confirmed by the National Mint and Stamp Factory - Real Casa de la Moneda. In the end I leave you with some more detail.

In 1519, two hundred thirty-nine men and five ships set out from Spain in search of a route westward to the Spice Islands (now called the Moluccas Islands).

They crossed the Atlantic Ocean, circled the southern tip of South America by the Strait of Magellan, and then sailed through the Pacific Ocean, reaching the Philippines, where Magellan died in 1521, and finally reaching the Spice Islands on November 6 of that same anus.

On September 6, 1522, the ship Victoria returned to Spain, led by Juan Sebastián Elcano. And with only 17 more sailors. Emperor Charles V named him "PRIMUS CIRCUMDEDISTI ME" The first man to circumnavigate the world, as it appears on his noble coat of arms.

The third coin in this series is dedicated to the arrival of Juan Sebastián Elcano to the Spice Islands (currently the Moluccas Islands).

On November 7, 1521, they reached the Moluccas, landing on the island of Tidore the next day. There they asked their king for permission to trade.

On December 18, 1521, with the two ships loaded with cloves and cinnamon, they prepared to depart back to Spain. However, that same day a waterway was discovered in Trinidad, necessitating a long repair. For this reason, on the 21st the ship Victoria left alone for the west.

On the reverse a representation of The Arrival to the Moluccas is reproduced in colors. In the upper right part of the coin, horizontally and in capital letters, the value of the piece 10 EURO; on the left, the mint mark. At the bottom of the coin, in a circular sense and in capital letters, the legend V CENTENARIO DE LA VUELTA AL MUNDO.

On the right, within an oval, detail of the head of the sculptural work entitled Carlos V, made by Leone and Pompeo Leoni, which is kept in the Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid; below, in capital letters and horizontally, the legend CARLOS V. In the upper part of the coin, in circular sense and in capital letters, the legend ESPAÑA 2021. At the bottom of the coin, the legend JUAN SEBASTIÁN ELCANO. Occupying the entire bottom of the coin, some lines like a wind grid.

In 2022 three commemorative 2 euro coins in Spain

As I said at the beginning, we will have the culmination of this series with a commemorative 2 euro coin, but we will also have another two more.

In 2022, three commemorative 2-euro coins will be issued, one dedicated to the Spanish places included in the UNESCO World Heritage list, as usual. Next year it will be the Garajonay Natural Park, in the Canary Islands. Another will be dedicated to Juan Sebastián Elcano, as the culmination of the V Centenary of the Tour of the World and his arrival in Spain, after a 4-year trip. And the last one is the common commemorative dedicated to the Erasmus Program in which Spain also participates. All this is confirmed, in the absence of knowing dates and volumes of issuance.
