V Centenary of the death of Pope Leo X

Pope Leo X, Giovanni de Lorenzo de Medici, was the 217th Pope of the Catholic Church from 1513 until his death on December 1, 1521. Leo X, belonging to one of the most powerful Florentine families of the time, was a great Pope of the Renaissance; During his pontificate he valued and supported Raphael Sanzio, of which a magnificent portrait of the Pope is preserved in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.

The profile portrait on the reverse of the coin, by Marco Ventura, is inspired by the numismatic iconography of the pontiff; on the obverse are the shields of Leo X and Pope Francis.

Members in service are Roman Catholics who wish to “give a particular witness of Christian life, apostolate and fidelity to the Apostolic See”, through cultural activities, works of Christian charity and the service they dedicate, mainly in the Basilica. of Saint Peter in the Vatican.
