Under the name of Vikings, a series of coins dedicated to these feared warriors who carried out looting raids are being issued, coming from the Nordic peoples from Scandinavia, famous for being great navigators and for carrying out pillage and attacks in Europe. All these Viking figures have managed to reach our days through mythology, legends and stories collected in Norse writings.

The second coin of the five that make up this spectacular series of coins has just been announced, in which the protagonist is Freydif Eiriksdottir, one of the best known and most feared Viking warriors of all time and a key figure in the Viking expansion in Greenland.

This piece and all of the series are composed of two ounces of silver, have a selective gold plating and an antique finish. All this together with its spectacular designs, highlighted by engravings in very high relief, make us face coins with a very special appeal.

The reverse of the coin features an impressive high-relief image of Freydif Eiriksdottir with a golden sword in his hand, leaping from a Viking ship ready to begin battle. At the bottom of the scene appears the inscription: "VIKINGS FREYDIF EIRIKSDOTTIR", as the name of the series and the coin.

The coin seen from this perspective shows its very high relief, which allows it to give an extra realism to the scene represented.

The obverse of the coin. Common to the entire series, it presents a very original circular motif composed of Nordic runes. In the center is the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: «ELIZABETH II», name of the Queen, «FIVE DOLLARS», face value, «Ag 999», the purity of silver, «2021», year of issue and "NIUE ISLAND", as the issuing country.

The coin is presented in a wooden box with a colorful graphic dust jacket, it also has a certificate of authenticity from the Polish Mint, which has been in charge of creating these 500 pieces with which it counts as circulation.

The first coin in the series was issued in 2020 and featured Eric Bloodaxe (Erik Bloody Ax) or Erico I of Norway.

At the moment you can find the two coins for sale here , although the one dedicated to Freydif Eiriksdottir is not issued until the end of July.
