One of the main reasons why collecting bullion or investment coins can become monotonous is the fact that the most important and popular ones issued in the world usually have the same design year after year, both on the obverse as on the reverse.

One of these coins is the one issued annually by the Bank of Ukraine, dedicated to Archangel Michael, one of the most respected and loved characters in Ukraine, as well as being the patron saint of its capital, Kiev. In 2020, trying to get a little out of the routine of those who acquire the currency every year, they decided to completely change its face, thus giving a new incentive to its buyers.

The one ounce version of silver (there are also gold ones) is the most popular and has just been issued and offered for sale by the Bank of Ukraine. In the coming days, the numismatic shops that touch this type of currency will offer it to their customers.

The reverse of the coin shows the image of Archangel Michael, one of the most revered biblical figures, victor of evil and patron saint of soldiers fighting for just causes; there is a circular legend that says:… ЗА НАС І ДУШІ ПРАВЕДНИХ, І СИЛА АРХІСТРАТИГА МИХАЇЛА (… the souls of the righteous and the power of Archangel Michael are with us), from the poem Haidamaky, by the Ukrainian poet Taras Sheras.

The obverse shows above the coat of arms of Ukraine, under which is the name of the country УКРАЇНА (Ukraine), all surrounded by a stylized crown made of bay leaves; At the bottom of the coin is its face value 1 ₴ ( 1 grivna) ; In the center, within an octagonal shape, is the logo and name of the НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ / БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine), and the year of issue of the coin, 2020, also the metal of the coin, its purity and weight, Ag 999.9 and 31.1 g. Below, to the left, is the Mint mark of the National Bank of Ukraine.
