Yesterday, April 16, Queen Margaret II of Denmark celebrated her 80th birthday. In order to celebrate it, the National Bank of Denmark issues and puts into circulation a coin of 20 crowns (2.68 euros) of a commemorative type. Thinking of collectors, the same coin will also be issued in Proof quality and another with a 500 crowns silver face, all with the same design.

The reverse shows a motif based on symbols that refer to the Queen's motto and her artistic work: a heart surrounded by 12 pairs of scissors. The motto is reflected in the heart (the love of the people) and in the circle (the strength of Denmark). The leaves of the scissors form the letter M of Margarita (Margrethe) and their arrangement in a circle represent the union of their people around the monarch. The reverse side is designed by graphic designer Jeanette Skov Jensen.

The obverse of the coin shows a portrait of the Queen in profile, facing right, made by the sculptor Lis Nogel.
