On February 1 during the World Money Fair to be held in Berlin, the collectors present there will be able to get the first of the two 2-euro commemorative coins that France will issue in this 2020, the coin is dedicated to the «50th Anniversary of the death of General De Gaulle and 80th Anniversary of the June 18 appeal ». During the Fair, the Monnaie de Paris will make its official presentation and almost certainly the attendees will be able to acquire it at face value.

The coin design represents two profiles of Charles de Gaulle at two different times in his life. The background profile shows Charles de Gaulle as General of the Armies during the June 18 appeal or during the liberation of Paris. The profile in the foreground represents Charles de Gaulle during his second presidential term that lasted seven years. The letters RF, abbreviation of the French Republic, appear integrated within the composition, the Letter F is shown inside a cross of Lorraine, symbol of the free France chosen by General de Gaulle in 1940. In the lower part are the marks of mint. The twelve stars of the European Union appear in the circular crown.

The same design used in this coin, will also be for silver coins with facials of 10 and 100 euros, which are issued on the same date.

The volume of emission announced is very curious, will be 18,061,940 coins, which correspond to the date (06-18-1940 in which the commemoration call is produced). Of these 10,000 will be presented in wallets or blister with the currency in BU quality, and another 10,000 presented in a case with the currency in Proof quality.
