The quarter of the quarter (25 cents coin) of this year 2019 is dedicated to the "National Historic Park of the Missions of San Antonio", located in the state of Texas, will be issued on August 26 as a currency of circulation. The coin belongs to the series “America the Beautiful Quarter”, dedicated to emblematic places and national parks of the United States. This coin has a clear link with colonial Spain and its missions, being very present both in its design and its meaning.

The reverse design represents representative elements during the Spanish colonial era of the missions. Within the quadrants that form a cross there are symbols of the missions: wheat symbolizes agriculture, arches and bell symbolize the community, a lion represents the Spanish cultural heritage, and the symbol of the San Antonio River represents the methods of irrigation and the resources that sustain life. The inscriptions are «SAN ANTONIO MISSIONS», «TEXAS», «2019» and «E PLURIBUS UNUM», a Latin phrase that means «Of many, one». It is one of the first national slogans of the United States and refers to the integration of the thirteen British colonies in North America to create a single independent country.

On the obverse of all the coins in the series, President George Washington is represented, in a version restored by John Flanagan in 2010 of the original portrait used in 1932 in the Washington Quarter.
