Godofredo de Bouillón was one of the leaders of the First Crusade. Considered a chaste and daring gentleman whose victories were romanticized during his life, Godofredo personified the spirit of adventure. This is the subject of the magnificent second coin of the series of C uentos de Caballeros , in which we travel back in time to a bygone era of chivalrous virtues.

After joining the First Crusade in 1095, at the request of Pope Urban II, Godofredo and the army of Crusaders traveled along the Rhine and Danube rivers, taking different routes to reach Constantinople, where they met. There was talk of an army of 50,000 men, including 7,000 knights. After three long and hard years, the rest of the Crusaders finally arrived in Jerusalem in the summer of 1099. After a siege of a month, they conquered the Citadel of Jerusalem and murdered Jews and Muslims in acts of bloody retribution. The first ruler of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, Godofredo de Bouillón, died in Jerusalem in 1100.

Godfrey was the first to use the Jerusalem cross. The kingdom's coat of arms featured an imposing golden cross on a silver background surrounded by a smaller Greek cross in each quadrant. The cross of Jerusalem appears in the center of the obverse of the coin, both in a coat of arms and in the chest of Godofredo de Bouillón, who holds a battle ax and wears a helmet, chainmail and other armor as if he were ready for the battle.

The reverse of the coin shows that a king confers cavalry to a kneeling squire in the form of an award, also known as the dubbing ceremony.

The five pieces that make up the collection have facials of 10 euros, as in all that the Austrian mint emits with this facial value, they adapt to all pockets, depending on the metal and the quality in which we want to acquire the coin, what We can do from € 10 that costs copper, which by the way looks so good, or better, than silver.
