Today we are going to know what the second 2-euro commemorative coin issued by the 2019 Ufficio Filatelico e Numismatico Vaticano will look like, dedicated to the «25th anniversary of the end of the restoration of the Sistine Chapel» and that had aroused much expectation to know which it was going to be the reason represented in it.
The coin shows a design by Daniela L0ngo that depicts the central motif of the work The Last Judgment, mural made by Michelangelo to decorate the apse of the Sistine Chapel. In this, Christ is represented by separating the righteous from sinners. His hands and feet are marked as evidence of the nails that were placed during the crucifixion, and a wound in his chest as a result of being pierced by a spear of a Roman soldier. He is one of the few Christs that have been painted with an expression of anger and anger. Next to Christ, a grieving Mary is shown, under the arm of Jesus and resigned to the consequences of the Judgment.

In the years 1980 to 1994 the Sistine Chapel underwent a careful restoration that was in charge of a team composed of specialists from the Vatican Museums and its director, Carlo Pietrangeli, by Professor Fabrizio Mancinelli, art historiographer and director of the works, and by Gianluigi Colalucci, chief-restorer. This work involved the cleaning of the frescoes of the "Vault", made from 1980 to 1992, and that of the "Judgment", which ended in 1994 after four years of intense work.
